GENERAL

What makes your products special and unique?

Superior Sourcing Our herbs are sourced from all over the world to avoid seasonal fluctuations in availability, keeping herbs accessible to practitioners. Our suppliers meet strict standards that ensure top quality herbs, most of which are organic, wildcrafted, sustainably grown, or grown using permaculture. We support local farmers and grow many of our own herbs. (Want to grow for us? Email us!)
Superior Processing Our tinctures are made using the classic tincturing method. The tinctures are made in a 1:5 ratio which allows for the optimal extraction of the herb. The alcohol percentage is strictly controlled depending on the herb and part of the plant that is used.
Superior Selection We take pride in our growing selection of over 300 individual herbs. If we don’t carry the herb you’re seeking, we can likely track it down for you.
Superior Quality Control Our tinctures are thoroughly tested by a third-party lab and with an organoleptic evaluation by our team of herbalists prior to final bottling.
Superior Price Our tinctures are more cost-effective than other tinctures on the market. With an eye towards efficiency, we keep our costs low by maintaining good relationships with our wide network of suppliers and ordering herbs in bulk quantities.
Superior Customization We provide custom compounding and private labeling. Our dry herbs can be provided in powder form. We take special requests, help you formulate tea, tinctures, glycerites, and skincare products. If there’s an herb you want that we don’t carry, we’ll try our hardest to get it for you!
We Care About the Environment We repackage materials that are shipped to us (so don’t be surprised if our packages look different from time to time!). We recycle or reuse materials whenever possible. We turn the cardboard we receive from other suppliers into packing material. We donate to avoid waste to groups like Naturopaths Without Borders. Our workforce almost completely uses public transportation or bikes. We are powered using 100% renewable energy through Bullfrog Power
We Donate To Charity Perfect Herbs supports many causes that make the world better. We donate a portion of our profits or products. These include charities that support environmental and natural sustainability.

What are NPNs? Does Perfect Herbs have NPNs?

An NPN is a Natural Health Product Number. If a product has an NPN, it means it’s approved by Health Canada as a ‘health product’ and has been assessed for safety, efficacy, and quality. When something becomes a health product, it means we can make health claims on it, like saying “this tincture helps you sleep better.” Perfect Herbs has a large number of NPNs and we are applying some to our products where it is commercially viable (it costs a lot, so we are being selective). That means, instead of listing our product as ‘St. John’s Wort tincture’, we’ll be able to list it as, ‘St. John’s Wort tincture – helps with mild to moderate depression.’ NPN or not, all our products are made using the same process, in our facility that is Site Licensed by Health Canada.

Does custom labeling and patient/client drop-shipping cost more?

No, custom labeling and patient/client drop-shipping does not cost extra. We offer these services free of charge. Woohoo!

How does Perfect Herbs keep prices as low as possible?

We evaluate and use multiple herb suppliers that meet our quality standards. If one supplier changes pricing, we can rely on more affordable alternatives. We also purchase herbs in bulk to keep prices as low as possible.

How do you determine tincture prices?

Tincture prices are determined based on the cost of ingredients and packaging. The biggest variable is the cost of the herb. Some of the herbs we carry cost 20 times more than the average herb. We developed a tiered pricing system to account for this wide range in cost. About 75% of our herbs are in the lowest tier of pricing, while a smaller selection are in the more expensive tiers. Our more costly tinctures are priced as such due to the cost of the plant material.

Do herbal blends cost the same as single herbs?

Our signature blends cost the same as single herbs. However, when using our tincture calculator to create your own custom blend, pricing may differ. Our calculator considers the unique cost of each ingredient. Custom blends will typically cost slightly more than our standard products depending on which herbs are selected.

TINCTURES, GLYCERITES & DRY HERBS

Where do you source your herbs from?

We work with a diverse network of suppliers from across the globe to ensure our herbs are accessible, affordable and of the highest quality. We maintain a steadfast commitment to working exclusively with trustworthy herb suppliers. As herb makers, we know first-hand the difference vibrant herbs can make in tea or tincture. We work with suppliers who demonstrate a track record of excellence and adhere to strict quality control measures, such as Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and third party testing.

How do you make your tinctures? Are they made from fresh herbs or dried herbs?

We macerate our tinctures for 3-6 weeks and agitate regularly to achieve optimal extraction. Where applicable, we utilize third party testing to ensure quality extracts. We press, filter, bottle and label each and every tincture by hand and with great care and in small batches. Our standard tinctures are made from dried plant material at a 1:5 ratio. Alcohol percentage ranges from 25-60% depending on the herb. We carry a seasonal selection of fresh tinctures, which are not listed on our website. Feel free to contact us for a list of our current fresh tincture stock. Fresh tinctures are made using fresh plant material at a 1:2 ratio and range in alcohol percentage from 50-70% depending on the herb. These herbs are provided by local farmers and foragers.

What tincture ratios do you offer?

Our standard tinctures are 1:5 (200mg/ml). We also offer a selection of high-potency tinctures, which are 1:2 (500mg/ml).

What is the strength/potency of your tinctures?

Our tinctures are a standard 1:5 ratio, meaning 1 part herb to 5 parts menstruum. This is equivalent to 200mg/mL of herb in the tincture.

Do you sell high-potency tinctures and glycerites?

We carry a selection of high-potency tinctures, which are made at a 1:2 ratio, meaning 1 part herb to 2 parts menstruum This is equivalent to 500mg/ml of herb in the tincture. These tinctures are available for purchase through our website under the high-potency category. We offer glycerites at a standard 1:5 ratio. We do not make high-potency glycerites.

Do you make alcohol-free tinctures?

We make herbal glycerites upon request. An herbal glycerite is a concentrated liquid extract made by macerating herbs in a mixture of vegetable glycerin and water. During this process, the plant’s water-soluble constituents are extracted into the glycerin solution. The resulting product is sweet and viscous, resembling a syrup. These extracts are similar to tinctures but use glycerin instead of alcohol as a solvent. Glycerites are a great option for children or adults who do not want to consume alcohol. We require a minimum order of 250mL for a glycerite.

Is it normal to have sediment in your tincture?

Yes! It’s completely normal to find some sediment in your tincture. Sediment is simply herbal goodness that has fallen out of solution. We recommend shaking your tincture before taking it so that any sediment is included in your dose. When shaking a tincture with sediment, it may appear cloudy. This is totally natural and safe to consume.

What is a standard dosage?

For liability and regulatory reasons, we don’t make any claims as to how our herbs should be used, including dosing recommendations. Please review our disclaimer, as well as our terms and policies.

Can you powder my herbs?

Yes, we can powder your herbs. We charge a powdering fee of $6.99/herb. There are a small selection of herbs we are unable to powder due to their unique texture.

I want an herb that’s not listed on your website. Can you source it for me?

Yes! We can certainly source herbs for you. We require a minimum order of 1 lb dry herb or 2 L of tincture to do so. Pricing will depend on the cost of the herb you are seeking. Reach out and we’ll see what we can do.
